What We’re Looking For
Chaski Review welcomes submissions that speak to our core values: exchange, experimentation, multilingualism, and transnational imagination. We publish:
Poetry (up to 3 poems or 5 pages)
Prose (fiction, nonfiction, hybrid forms – up to 3,000 words)
Interviews (finished pieces or pitches – up to 2,500 words)
Visual Work (up to 5 high-res images; brief artist’s statement encouraged)
Translations (with original language text and confirmation of permission to translate where applicable)
Translators must confirm they have publishing rights for their submissions. (A simple “I have permission to translate [Title] from [the rights holder].” at the time of submission in your cover letter will do.)
We love work that resists categorization. If your piece doesn’t fit neatly into a box, that’s often a good sign.
What We’re Looking For In Translations
Original and translated literature of any kind. We encourage underrepresented languages and regions. If you’re submitting a translation, include the original text as well as the translator’s note or bio.
Self-translations are welcome but must be clearly identified. Collaborative translations are also welcome.
How to Submit
Fill out our form by clicking on the “Submissions Form” button at the bottom of these guidelines.
If your piece includes distressing content, please add relevant content warnings.
If you have used AI tools in the creation of your piece, disclose how and why. We will not publish work that uses AI without transparency.
For translations: please submit the translation and the original language as separate files.
We accept simultaneous submissions, but let us know if your work is accepted elsewhere. Please do not submit previously published work, including self-published or blog posts.
Submission Fee:
There is a $3 USD submission fee, payable through the submission form.
Fee waivers:
If you are facing financial hardship, or if you cannot pay the submission fee for any reason (no questions asked) please email us: chaskireview (at) gmail (dot) com and we will gladly waive the fee.
Response Time & Rights
We aim to respond to submissions within 6–8 weeks. Due to the volume of submissions, we may not be able to offer individual feedback.
By submitting to Chaski Review, you grant us first serial rights and archival rights. After publication, all rights revert to the author or translator. If your piece is republished elsewhere, we ask that you credit Chaski Review as the original publisher.
We are a volunteer-run, grassroots journal and unfortunately cannot currently offer financial compensation. Accepted artists will receive a handmade complimentary issue.
Our Commitments
Chaski Review is a space of care, critique, and cultural exchange. We do not tolerate racism, xenophobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, or any form of systemic harm. Work that perpetuates hate or erasure will not be considered, and future submissions from such authors will not be read.
If your name or pronouns change post-publication, let us know. We will always update your online bio upon request.
Ready to Submit?
Chaski Review is a new space for writers, we welcome the strange, weird, and experimental. We invite you to explore past issues of Chaski Review to understand our editorial vision. Our goal is not to gatekeep but to carry voices forward—especially those often unheard. If your work speaks across borders or refuses to be fixed in one place, we want to read it.
With gratitude,
The Editors of Chaski Review
