Author's Bio:
Christine Guinard is a French poet whose family fled Spain during La Retirada, when half a million people escaped Franco’s army after the fall of Barcelona in 1939. This history continues to have a profound impact on Guinard’s work. A translator as well as a poet, musician and filmmaker, she published the Journal of a Catalan Refugee in 2012. She has published seven poetry collections, and a new one, White Song, is forthcoming in June (Unicité). An earlier collection, Sténopé (2019), won the Prix de Poésie from the city of Rambouillet/Association Arts et Lettres, and was a finalist for the Grand Prix de Poésie from the Société des Gens de Lettres (2020). She lives in Brussels, and teaches at the École Européenne Lille Métropole.
